We're seeing the seeds of Smashy Claw's second and third albums (Insane is Repeating and Demons in the Undertow, respectively) starting to bud. The improvement continues. I'm starting to learn how to program in Pro Tools, but the mixing is still just terrible. The songs are mostly stupid, but the depth is deepening.
I was finishing up the Associates degree with high grades and low effort, had lost nearly 100lbs on the crash diet, and felt creatively invigorated actually writing my own songs. It felt like I had unlocked something within myself. But also, I wasn't eating or sleeping much, so it wasn't exactly the healthiest period. It all seemed exciting and new then.
Since school was just down the road and I wasn't wasting precious moments indulging in frivolous matters like caloric intake, I had gobs of time to write and orchestrate to my hearts content. I was tired, starving, and hated myself for having no social life to speak of, but nostalgia goggles are often tinted rosily.
