My third FAWM. The songs are getting less stupid as a whole, but somehow the mixing got worse? Lots of notable IiR stuff premiering here.
Having graduated with my Associates, I had just been accepted into the University of Colorado Denver's Bachelors of Recording Arts program.
My daily routine involved waking up at 5am to exercise (a 10 mile bike ride followed by an hour at the gym), showering, not eating breakfast, rushing to catch the hour-and-a-half bus ride to Denver for school, mindlessly shambling from one class to another, not eating lunch, rushing to catch the hour-and-a-half bus ride home to eat a small dinner, then handing over my last coughing gasps of energy to any songs I was working on before crashing hard at midnight or later to wake up and do it all again. I'm on the verge of a panic attack just typing all that.
Incredibly, stupidly, I was proud of all that. The indominable will it took to fight through self-imposed starvation and still function was some psychotic badge of honor to me. And more incredibly, part of me still feels impressed that I actually managed it. Like, I'm typing this many years removed, in full perspective of how dangerous and unhealthy it all was and yet continue to have some misguided sense of pride. What's wrong with me? Do some people truly never learn? I wrote Amygdala the previous year, so you'd think I could've taken that advice about repeating mistakes.
