My 11th FAWM and the first I didn't finish. The obsessive maniac in me was freaked out about that at first, but eventually it felt liberating when I finally internalized that it's not something I needed to do anymore. Maybe it would've been better if I figured that out much earlier, but this is the reality we all must live in. Tracks abound for Satellites, Belize, Curtains, Barrow, and Soundcheck the newly titled second installment in the Backstage trilogy.
After a year in what surely must be the worst apartment complex on Earth, where my partner got held hostage by a mentally unstable woman for several hours until the police that had already been looking for her took her away, Branden, Nathan, my partner, and I rented a beautiful house in the suburbs. Needlejuice was doing well enough by then that I could take a salary to cover the increased rent. Living in a nice place with my band and my lady, all on the dime of my thriving business. It was like a dream come true while it lasted. But these things never do, do they?
We played our first shows when the pandemic started to loosen up. We had been practicing for two years at that point, so I hope the shows were good for the handful of barflies in attendance. Production continued on Backstage, including a second round of drum recording at Tyler's studio.
Despite these positive developments, I started taking antidepressants to manage my mounting anxiety. It took the edge off at first, but didn't have the lasting effects I'd hoped for. I probably needed to adjust the dosage or just find a medicine that worked better for me. At present I'm not taking anything.
